“!Now Ya Know”is a weekly series from Mixologi profiling artists you may not have heard of. Every week we will be selecting a new artist for you to keep on your radar.
I moved to Brooklyn a few months ago to an area called Bushwick. And I tell ya, every time I leave the house I see something new. Whether it’s a hidden bar, vintage clothing shop, drum circle, gloomy factory building, hipster coffee shop, Puerto Rican tenement building, you name it, Bushwick’s got it. But by far the tubular element of this area it its extensive street art.
Long story short, I took the picture below, posted it on Instagram (follow us @mixologi) and a friend of mine commented and told me whom the artist was, a person by the name of ROA. I kinda forgot that some of these artists are actually infamous. My first thought was, let do an interview! Then I was quickly reminded that street art isn’t necessarily legal, and that would be like asking your local drug dealer if he’d like to discuss his last batch of weed.
Fortunately for the sake of the art, it seems as if most great street artist aren’t as concerned with fame and money, as they are with spreading good art and being inspirational while doing it. So this post is dedicated to sharing the amazing work of some artist guy or girl named ROA. Check him out. !Now Ya Know
